Almost 50% of people diagnosed with depression are also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA). Here are ten thoughts that might express what it’s like to be battling depression and anxiety.
1. It’s excessively worrying about getting that perfect test score, yet not having the energy to study.
2. It’s not having the will to get out of bed and start the morning, yet stressing at the thought of missing school or work.
3. It’s freaking out about the mess continuing to pile up in your room, yet continuously saying, “I’ll get to it tomorrow.”
4. It’s making to-do lists constantly, yet never getting around to any of the tasks.
5. It’s thinking that canceling plans results in ending friendships, yet not having the energy to follow through with your plans.
6. It’s feeling crappy about being single, yet always canceling dates because you are too nervous.
7. It’s not replying to text message and making excuses to miss out on get-togethers, yet hurting when the invitations finally stop.
8. It’s fearing ending up alone, yet isolating yourself because it’s too much to deal with.
9. It’s not enjoying the good days because you are thinking about next low to come.
10. It’s sleeping either too much or hardly at all.
